Former Ravens and Panthers wideout Steve Smith isn't coming out of retirement to play. And apparently, he won't do it to coach, either.
With Carolina Panthers receivers coach Ricky Proehl stepping down earlier this week, Panthers fans were partially hopeful that Smith, a franchise legend and current Charlotte resident, may enter into the next phase of his career.
Smith responded on Twitter.
Between fans asking him to become a receivers coach and Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti half-jokingly plotting his plan to recruit Smith back to the Ravens for the 2017 season, everyone seems to have their mind made up about his future but Smith himself. In a tearful goodbye, the 37-year-old mentioned his wife and children as his main reasons for walking away. He sounded intent on living the good life and building his future in North Carolina.
After seeing another one of his Tweets from Thursday, it was hard to blame him.
