Perhaps as a man still with a guilty conscience, Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh stepped to the podium following Sunday's 28-27 win over the Raiders and, without solicitation, had one last thing to say about the infamous Thanksgiving Day stomping incident.
On NFL Network
"NFL Replay" will re-air the Lions' 28-27 win over the Raiders on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
"I want to address this, and it's something that I've dealt with and trying to move forward with," Suh said, according to MLive.com. "I've apologized about it, obviously, on my Facebook page, but also after the game. Speaking about the Thanksgiving Day game, I made a mistake. The biggest thing for me is that I dealt with it, and I'm moving past it. I'm happy to be back on the field with my team."
"The biggest thing for me is wanting to sincerely move forward from it. I've spoken to (Packers guard) Evan Dietrich-Smith. I feel like we're on very good terms. He's a great guy. I got a chance to speak with him on the phone. The biggest thing for me is I'm happy it's over with. I dealt with my suspension, and now I'm back on the football team, back on the football field to help my team win and continue to go after our goals.
"From here on out, I would rather not speak about it because it's over and done. It's in the past."
It's easy to say Suh did the right thing here. On the surface, it certainly appears that way.
And while it's true that Suh has served his punishment (a two-game suspension handed down by the NFL) and deserves a second chance at cleaning up his image, he has given fans and peers reason to doubt him.
Here's hoping Suh proves the skeptics wrong.
