Each year the NFL seeks to improve the surrounding communities of the Super Bowl host city by working with the local host committee to identify and fund projects that will enhance lives in the local area. The NFL Foundation annually donates $1 million toward Super Bowl legacy grant programs. Funds are then matched by local private and public donations.
To commemorate Super Bowl XLVIII and leave a lasting, positive impact on the surrounding area, the NFL Foundation provided a $1 million grant to the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee's Snowflake Youth Foundation that was matched by the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee. The joint donation funds charitable projects with a focus on revitalizing and rebuilding places for youth to be active and healthy, including in areas affected by Superstorm Sandy.
Below is a list of the projects that the NFL Foundation, NY/NJ Snowflake Youth Foundation, and NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee are funding as part of the joint $2 million initiative.
