NFL KICKS OFF SUPER BOWL EVE WITH COUNTING CROWS

Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and now Super Bowl Eve. Super Bowl Sunday is often considered an unofficial winter holiday. Now, for the first time ever, the Super Bowl will even have official festivities the night before with a free outdoor event open to the public.

The National Football League will count down the hours to the Super Bowl with COUNTING CROWS and a fireworks spectacular at a free outdoor concert at Tempe Town Lake Saturday, Feb. 2.

SUPER BOWL SATURDAY NIGHT, hosted by Jerry O'Connell, is a unique entertainment event celebrating an exciting year of football and the arrival of Super Bowl XLII. The event will include live musical performances by the Counting Crows and Boys Like Girls, and appearances by NFL players, capped off by the Super Bowl Fireworks Spectacular.

Fans may enter beginning at 6 p.m. on the northwest corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway. Fireworks are slated to launch at 9:40 p.m.

WHO:

COUNTING CROWS and BOYS LIKE GIRLS will perform a free concert on the eve of Super Bowl XLII, hosted by Jerry O'Connell.

Counting Crows, a rock band from Berkeley, California, gained popularity in 1994 following the release of its debut album August and Everything After, which featured the hit single "Mr. Jones." The band received a 2004 Academy Award nomination for the Shrek 2 song, "Accidentally in Love."

Boys Like Girls is a four-piece pop band from Boston, Massachusetts. The group topped the Top Unsigned Artist chart on PureVolume within a few months from forming in late 2005. In August 2006, they released their debut album, Boys Like Girls. Best known for their song "The Great Escape," the band was voted 2006 Artist of the Year by the readers of Spin.

NFL Players will be in attendance as well.

Where do I park?You can park in any of the parking garages in downtown Tempe or in the parking structure at Hayden Ferry. Parking will cost anywhere from $10 and up that day.

Where do I enter the event?The main and only entrance into the event is at the corner of Rio Salado and Mill Avenue.

What happens if it rains?The event is rain or shine.

Where do I get tickets?The event is free and open to the public. There are no tickets.

Will there be food and beverages?Yes! Come eat, drink and watch the Counting Crows! There will be something for everyone! Food, snacks, and drinks.

Will there be bag checks and pat downs?In order to gain access to the event, you will be required to have your bag checked and have a security pat down.
