Taylor's agent: Bills missed playoffs due to discipline

Tyrod Taylor's agent, Adisa Bakari, isn't afraid to publicly stomp for his client.

While the Buffalo Bills have insisted they don't want to negotiate with their quarterback through the media, that seems to be what happened Thursday.

After Bills GM Doug Whaley spoke to NFL Network in the morning, saying "time will tell" if Taylor is the long-term solution at quarterback, Bakari went on Sirius XM NFL Radio and fired back, taking shots at Rex Ryan and the Bills' defense while defending his client.

Taylor is scheduled to make just $1 million in 2016, which is clearly pennies compared to what exponentially worse quarterbacks are making. Mark Sanchez, to name one example, is set to make $4.5 million with the Broncos.

Thursday marked the second time Bakari took a swipe at the Bills, saying last month that "31 other teams" are watching if Buffalo doesn't want to pay Taylor.

The simple truth to the matter is that Taylor signed a deal last offseason having never started a game in his career. That deal is now a steal for the Bills -- who are already hemmed in by the salary cap. Buffalo doesn't have much incentive to pay a quarterback with just 14 starts to his name huge money. There are still questions about Taylor's durability, and play, including concerns coaches had last year about his ability to see the middle of the field.

With the ability to wield the franchise tag next season, if necessary, the Bills hold most of the cards. Bakari can do all the interviews he wants and blast Taylor's coaches or teammates. In the end it's doing little to help his client, especially within the locker room.
