Teams think Titans plan to take Marcus Mariota

How much do the Titans want for the No. 2 overall pick?

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Tennessee's asking price is steep enough to make teams believe that the Titans "just want to take (Oregon quarterback) Marcus Mariota and be done" with the process.

Bottom line? The Titans are in an enviable spot and asking, at this point, far more than teams are willing to offer.

Rapoport noted that the Eagles, Browns, Jets and Bears are just some of the clubs that have called Tennessee about the second overall selection. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reported that the Ramshave also held discussions with the Titans.

The Rams know better than anyone about the advantage Tennessee holds after fleecing the Redskins three years ago in the trade that sent Robert Griffin III to the nation's capital. Moving up to No. 2 to land Mariota will require multiple first-round selections and possibly much more.

If the Titans have fallen for Mariota, though, all this trade talk is meaningless wind. If they haven't, there's still a chance for someone else to move into the driver's seat if they're willing to sell the farm.
