The Tennessee Titans are not happy about the hits that injured their quarterback, Jake Locker, and they are hoping the NFL does something about it.
Titans coach Mike Munchak said he had an "emotional" conversation with the league office about the hits on Locker by New York Jets defenders Muhammad Wilkerson and Quinton Coples. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Locker is expected to miss at least a month and could go on injured reserve with a designation to return. Rapoport confirms the league is looking into the issue.
"The first one, (Wilkerson) dropped his helmet into him and unloaded on him," Munchak said. "You're supposed to pull back on him when you're late. He didn't. The second one was totally unnecessary."
We'll be interested to see if the league fines either player. They were not penalized on the play, but Coples' hit did look late and unnecessary.
