HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans released defensive end Anthony Weaver, safety Will Demps and offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam on Wednesday.
Weaver, who spent three years with the Texans after four with the Baltimore Ravens, started each game last season opposite Mario Williams and finished with 45 tackles. Though he started all but four games during his time with Houston, Weaver leaves the team with only one sack.
Demps, who also has played for the New York Giants and Baltimore in his seven-year NFL career, started five games last season and had 32 tackles. He came to Houston in 2007 and started eight games that year.
Salaam spent this past season as a backup after 2008 first-round draft pick Duane Brown became the Texans' starting left tackle. Salaam started 30 games in his first two seasons in Houston. Salaam started his NFL career in 1999 with the Atlanta Falcons and also has played with the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars.
