On any given NFL weekend, many different players score touchdowns. Most of them are frequently started on fantasy football rosters. But others come out of nowhere to vulture touchdowns or beat a third-string cornerback repeatedly for a career-day. In fantasy, these are our #ThatHelpsNoOne champions. The players whose success leads to the imminent demise of countless fantasy teams. All season long, we'll be tracking and crowning a #ThatHelpsNoOne winner each week on NFL Fantasy LIVE. Below are the top candidates for Week 3.
Now, granted, it's not as if the Chiefs receiving corps is loaded with fantasy studs, but for Smith to find McKnight for not one, but two touchdowns instead of Dwayne Bowe, Knile Davis or Travis Kelce is just plain rude. Of course, if you ask the Dolphins defensive players, we have their defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle thank for that. Sigh.
Brees loves throwing to his big tight end Jimmy Graham. So when he targeted his tight end on the 34-yard touchdown pass above, fantasy owners were elated. Until they relized that it was Josh Hill, not Graham, racing wide open into the end zone. Classic #ThatHelpsNoOne shenanigans in New Orleans. Even though Hill only had two receptions, his touchdown allowed him to score twice as many fantasy points as Graham. Thanks, Sean Payton.
Head coaches love seeing their backups working together to score points for their team, much like Davis and Kendricks did on Sunday. It warms their hearts to see their players performing on the field. You know whose hearts it doesn't warm? Fantasy owners. Few things are more frustrating than watching a backup-to-backup touchdown hookup. It's only made worse if you for some reason bought into the Jared Cook hype-train once more (and if you did, may the fantasy gods have mercy on your soul).
If you were wondering why you've (likely) never heard of Damaris Jackson until Sunday, that's probably because he's a 5-foot-8 175 pound journeyman wide receiver out of Tulsa, who has never had more than 256 receiving yards in a season. So of course it makes perfect sense that he was the one to catch the touchdown pass in Houston and not DeAndre Hopkins or Andre Johnson. Of course!
What else can be said about Helu in a #ThatHelpsNoOne column that hasn't already been said? Seriously, the guy has been the bane of Alfred Morris fantasy owners for years now, and seeing as I am now in that group, I can't stand the sight of No. 29 on the field. It fills me with fantasy rage. Watch his vulturing touchdown to the right, if you must. I should note, that I do think Helu is a good player and great contributor for Washington ... I just wish he'd contribute in other ways than stealing Freddy's precious touchdown opportunities.
Who?!? Come on, Joe. Just look Torrey Smith's way. That's all his fantasy owners ask. Some sort of passing interest would be nice.
Good for Blake Bortles to find some success in his first NFL action. He did throw a ghastly pick six, but he wasn't exactly entering the best situation. Also, kudos to him for taking less than one full NFL game to become relevant in the #ThatHelpsNoOne race. The kid has a bright future in Jacksonville.
And the winner of the Week 3 #ThatHelpsNoOne crown is ... Kyle Juszczyk! Be sure to tune in to NFL Fantasy LIVE (weekdays at 5p ET on NFL Network) for more on the That Helps No One champions, and how to win your fantasy matchup each and every week!
