The three rookie quarterbacks who started the season under center have enjoyed team success.
According to NFL Research, we’re entering the first week since at least 1970 in which at least three rookie QBs have started a game and every one has a winning record.
Jayden Daniels’ Washington Commanders are 4-1; Caleb Williams' Chicago Bears are 3-2; and Bo Nix's Denver Broncos are 3-2.
Wins are a team stat, but the fact that the quarterbacks' clubs are stacking victories as they grow is a positive sign. That each starter entered the NFL with a wealth of college experience -- Nix had 61 college starts, Daniels boasted 55 starts and Williams played in 37 games -- in multiple systems likely aided their transitions.
Each has gotten to Week 6 in different ways. Daniels, the Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner, has dominated for the upstart Commanders, flashing dynamic passing and scrambling ability. Williams has ridden the roller-coaster, taking advantage of struggling opponents, but has shown noticeable signs of improvement in recent weeks. Nix has struggled with accuracy but has improved his downfield attacking the past two weeks, generating a 102.5 passer rating on such attempts, per Next Gen Stats.
Two more rookies join the starting fray this week, with No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye taking over in New England and fifth-rounder Spencer Rattler starting for an injured Derek Carr in New Orleans.
