Thursday's NFL injury and roster news for Week 1

The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off the 2020 NFL season with a 34-20 victory over the Houston Texans on Thursday night in a game that wasn't without its share of bumps and bruises.

Chiefs defensive tackle Khalen Saunders took an early trip to the sidelines after suffering an elbow injury in the first quarter. He was later ruled out for the remainder of the game. K.C. later lost another defensive lineman for the night when Alex Okafor suffered a hamstring injury. Cornerback Charvarius Ward injured his hand in the second half and was also ruled out.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach told reporters after the game that Saunders suffered a dislocated elbow, while Ward has a fractured hand that will be re-checked Friday. Okafor's injury was described as a "slight hamstring" issue, per Reid.

Texans RB Duke Johnson sustained a leg injury in the third quarter and was deemed questionable to return. He was eventually ruled out.
