Titans owner Bud Adams told *The Tennessean* on Friday that he is "not too happy" with his team's performance and plans to evaluate coach Jeff Fisher's status at the end of the season.
"We'll go up to the end of the season, and then I'll make my decision," Adams said. "I am not very pleased with what has happened here, though. It's not what I had in mind."
The Titans started the season 5-2, then racked up a six-game losing streak, their second in the last two years. They're also on the verge of missing the playoffs for the fifth time in the last seven seasons.
Adams, who didn't attend the Titans' Thursday night loss to the Indianapolis Colts, said he would take a number of things into consideration when evaluating Fisher's status. They include injuries to quarterbacks Vince Young, who had a well-publicized spat with the coach and went on season-ending injured reserve with a thumb ailment, and Kerry Collins, who missed two games with a calf injury.
"We had a good start this year, but it doesn't look like they finished it off too good," Adams said. "But those things happen sometimes, especially when you lose both your quarterbacks. Our third quarterback (rookie Rusty Smith) is going to be good in time, but he has a lot to learn.
"You can't blame (Fisher) when you don't have your key guys playing," Adams added. "But I have to look at the whole picture and what has been happening since we have been in Nashville, what our record is, where we stand in the league. That is important."
Fisher, in his 16th full season as the franchise's coach, is under contract through 2011. He repeatedly has said that he hopes to finish his career with the Titans, recently telling NFL Network that he'd "absolutely" like to return in 2011.
