Erik Walden logged 11 sacks last season at age 31, but it wasn't enough production to create a ton of buzz this winter in free agency.
That changed on Thursday when Walden signed with the Tennessee Titans, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. While the club has a fairly comfortable amount of depth at the outside linebacker spots, Walden could add some intrigue as a third-down rusher or situational role player.
Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo are penciled in to start while 2016 second-round pick Kevin Dodd should be in line to see some action after logging one sack in nine appearances last year.
It's easy to overlook a pre-camp veteran signing, though some in Walden's situation do end up latching on and providing some valuable snaps. With the division in their sights, additional experience could be useful for defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau as he tries to replicate his venerable Steelers blitz packages in Nashville.
