Add the Tennessee Titans to the list of NFL clubs who will engage Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston for both a private workout and a visit to the club's facility.
With the No. 2 pick in the draft and a need at the quarterback position, it's little wonder the Titans are thoroughly evaluating the former Heisman Trophy winner. NFL Media's Albert Breer reported the Titans' plans with Winston via Twitter. Winston already has visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who hold the No. 1 pick of the draft and also have a need at the quarterback position.
As Breer also noted, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is getting similar attention from the Titans. The possibility of the two quarterbacks being the first players chosen, in either order, would speak to the importance of the position at the professional level. NFL scouts have their share of concerns about both, Winston more for whether he has the off-field maturity to lead a franchise, while Mariota's transition to a pro-style offense could make him more of a developmental player early in his pro career.
Six NFL Media analysts participating in mock drafts all project the first quarterback domino to fall with the Bucs taking Winston, but none expect Mariota to be the Titans' choice. USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams is considered the draft's top overall talent by analyst Daniel Jeremiah, and could compel the Titans to go with defense at the No. 2 pick.
