Tom Brady will sit out the New England Patriots' final preseason game against the New York Giants on Thursday night, according to NFL.com's Albert Breer. Breer reported, earlier that Brady was unlikely to play, per a club source.
For the Patriots, that means playing Ryan Mallett and probably plenty of Tim Tebow, too.
Tebow is fighting to make the team's roster, which must be trimmed to 53 men by 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.
UPDATE: NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported, per the league's official transaction listings, that the Patriots worked out rookie quarterbacks Clay Belton of Findlay, and Nathan Stanley of Southeast Louisiana on Wednesday.
