Plenty of people, including NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah on the latest College Football 24/7 Podcast, think UCLA head coach Jim Mora would be a fine hire for Texas with his track record of talent evaluation and media experience.
But Mora downplayed any possible interest from the Longhorns on Tuesday, meeting with reporters after beginning game prep in earnest for the Sun Bowl against Virginia Tech on Dec. 31.
"It's flattering, and I think it says a lot about our program and the direction we're heading," Mora said. "But I am very, very, very, extremely, delightfully happy to be the head coach at UCLA and want to be for a long, long time."
Mora agreed to a contract extension earlier this month after the head coaching position at Washington -- Mora's alma mater -- came open.
Mora is 18-8 (12-6 in Pac-12 play) in two seasons with the Bruins and has done a masterful job putting the likes of outside linebacker Anthony Barr, quarterback Brett Hundley and linebacker/running back Myles Jack in positions to succeed.
