USC left tackle Matt Kalil said Thursday night that he would skip his final year of eligibility at USC and plans to apply for entry into the 2012 NFL Draft.
Kalil confirmed his decision (first reported by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen) to the Los Angeles Times.
"It was definitely a tough decision because I love 'SC," Kalil said. "But it’s a special opportunity. It’s time to move on."
The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Kalil follows in a family tradition: His father Frank played pro football and his brother Ryan is the highest-paid center in NFL history for the Carolina Panthers.
