San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis -- man of the people -- explained last week that he had been skipping voluntary offseason workouts because it was in the best interest of his "brand."
Davis forfeited $200,000 in bonuses while protecting whatever brand he has in mind.
Now that the 49ers are graduating to the mandatory portion of their workouts, Davis intends to join his teammates in Santa Clara next week.
"You know what? I plan on being there," Davis told KGMZ-FM, via CSN Bay Area, on Thursday. "I plan on being there."
In addition to Davis' brand protection, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport has reported that the tight end is angling for a new contract with two years remaining on his six-year, $42.7 million deal.
"Everything is all cool between me and the Niners," Davis added. "... In life, you have to make business decisions, right? The 49ers are always making business decisions, and I'm a business man and I'm an entrepreneur."
We suffer through the business portion of the NFL's calendar in June so we can enjoy the on-field spectacle in September.
