Three NFL clubs whose primary draft need is at cornerback are taking a close look at perhaps the best one available: Florida's Vernon Hargreaves.
The Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have arranged meetings with the Gators' three-year starter in advance of the 2016 NFL Draft, according to NFL Media's Rand Getlin, along with the Baltimore Ravens and four other teams.
All four clubs hold a top-10 pick in the draft, the range in which Hargreaves is widely projected to be chosen. NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein has identified cornerback as the top draft need for the Cowboys (No. 4 pick), Jaguars (No. 5) and Bucs (No. 9).
Hargreaves (5-10, 204 pounds) ran a 4.50 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine last month with jumps that were top-five efforts at the position (10-10 broad jump, 39-inch vertical jump). In three seasons at UF, Hargreaves recorded 10 interceptions and 27 pass breakups. He was a two-time first-team All-SEC pick, and one of three finalists for the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back.
Hargreaves has been compared to Cleveland Browns star cornerback Joe Haden.
