The Green Bay Packers announced Friday they have placed right tackle Mark Tauscher on injured reserve and re-signed tight end-linebacker Spencer Havner, whom they released during the final cutdown in September.
Havner has played in 20 games with the Packers from 2008-09 after spending time on their practice squad from 2006-08. He played in five games for the Detroit Lions this season before being waived/injured on Oct. 14.
Tauscher sustained a shoulder injury during a Week 4 victory over the Detroit Lions and has not played since. He has started 132 games for the Packers during the past 11 seasons.
“Despite long odds, Mark has been battling this shoulder injury in an effort to get back on the field,” Packers Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson said. “His work ethic and motivation have been tremendous but the injury has been too severe to overcome. He is a team leader and will be an important part of our team as we go through the stretch run of our season.”
First-round draft pick Bryan Bulaga has started in place of Tauscher the past five games.
