EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants have signed kicker Shayne Graham because of Lawrence Tynes' ankle injury.
Tynes was unable to do much Saturday during the walkthrough for Sunday's game against Detroit. Tynes sprained his left ankle practicing kickoffs Friday. His status is uncertain, prompting the signing of Graham.
Graham was the Baltimore Ravens' final cut this season. The former Cincinnati Bengal has made 85 percent of his field goal attempts during his career.
The Giants placed wide receiver Victor Cruz on injured reserve to make room for Graham. Cruz is from nearby Paterson and was the surprise of training camp, catching three touchdowns in a preseason game against the Jets. He injured his hamstring Monday.
