Alycia Meriweather
Alycia Meriweather is a dedicated educator and leader who has served Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) for over 20 years. Appointed as Interim Superintendent in March 2016, Meriweather brought a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Executive Director for the Office of Curriculum in 2015. She also held leadership positions as Executive Director for the Office of Science Education and Director of the Detroit Mathematics and Science Center. Currently, she serves as DPSCD's Deputy Superintendent of External Partnerships and Innovation.
A lifelong resident of Detroit, Meriweather is deeply committed to the community she serves. Throughout her career, she has been a lead teacher, curriculum writer, professional development facilitator, and supervisor for middle school science. Meriweather's work has always been focused on ensuring equitable education and providing unique learning experiences for both students and teachers in Detroit. She is a proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education in her hometown.
