Myliassia Shannon Tenner is an inspiring educator with over 25 years of dedication to young people in Minneapolis and St. Paul. From her beginnings as a day care provider to her current role as principal of Justice Page Middle School, Shannon's career reflects her unwavering commitment to education, equity, and uplifting her community's youth. Her leadership embodies the transformative power of education, making her a deserving nominee.
Shannon's passion for education took root during her undergraduate years at the University of Minnesota and deepened when she became a Page Grant recipient. The grant supports students of color in pursuing higher education and is awarded by the Page Education Foundation, founded by retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice and Minnesota Vikings legend Alan Page and his late wife, Diane Sims Page. As a Page Scholar, Shannon embraced the foundation's commitment to service, sparking a lifelong dedication to creating opportunities for others.
Reflecting on her journey, Shannon shared, "The Page Education Foundation sparked my passion and love for children of all ages. Thank you, Alan Page, for giving me this opportunity! Who would've thought life would come full circle, and I would become the principal of the school renamed after you."
