JAMES WINCHESTER, LONG SNAPPER
Throughout his nine-year NFL career, James Winchester has used his position as an NFL player to live the tenants of the NFL Salute to Service initiative; to honor, empower and connect with service members, veterans and their families. Winchester has reached out to Service Members in a variety of ways. He has gone on several military base visits, most recently he visited Whiteman Air Force Base with former Chiefs Mike Garrett and Roger Burnhart. He also participated with the Veterans Community Project building homes for U.S. Veterans. During Super Bowl LIV and LVII, he participated and helped organize dinners with the team's former service members, along with other players to express appreciation for their service to the nation. Since its creation in 2017, Winchester has supported and been involved with the E3 Foundation. Formed by former MLB player Adam LaRoche and his wife Jennifer, E3 is a faith-based organization and one of their core missions is to support U.S. combat veterans. Winchester has worked with Curtis King, an executive coordinator at Gideon's 300 and the E3 Foundation on one of their main activations, bi-yearly, multi-day group hunts at the E3 Ranch in Fort Scott, Kansas. The excursions aim to assist in the Gideon's 300 mission to, "facilitate a healthy and supportive transition for veterans from military service to civilian life." Along with investing his own time, Winchester has also recruited teammates to join him in his efforts to support service members and veterans.
