CHRIS BAILEY, WASHINGTON SALUTE MILITARY PROGRAM LEAD

With 25 years of military experience as a retired Navy Captain, which included time as a Seahawk helicopter pilot, Chris Bailey leads the Washington Commanders military outreach programming tailored to active-duty military, veterans and their families across the DMV. With the Commanders uniquely situated in the nation's capital, Chris serves the largest community of military veterans in the country, producing best-in-class initiatives. His aim is to connect the military community with one another and the Washington Football family. In-season, Chris coordinates impactful experiences and military in-game moments to honor the military community. This past summer alone, Chris hosted various events including Military Appreciation Day at Training Camp, a walkthrough for Commanders players and coaches at Joint Base Andrews, a VIP tour of the Pentagon and an Orientation Flight at JBA for Commanders players; a six-stop base tour visit, and an NFL Combine bootcamp for local service members. Last season, he led Salute to Service including a visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center with Commanders players, a Bowie State University ROTC Cadets scholarship event, a USO pack for troops event, a VIP practice experience for TAPS families, and a DMV military job fair. Chris actively speaks about his journey to the NFL to empower others making the same transition as a retired veteran. He knows how difficult it can be and the need to reach out for support, hence his close relationship with the MISSION CONTINUES and the Commit Foundation, organizations committed to supporting servicemembers and veterans in transition.
