JIMMY GAROPPOLO, QUARTERBACK
Jimmy Garoppolo, quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, embodies each tenant of the NFL's Salute to Service campaign to honor, empower and connect service members, veterans, and their families. Garoppolo HONORS the sacrifices made by the service men and women of our armed forces by giving his time and effort to organizations that support those that serve our nation. This past Spring, Jimmy partnered with USAA at Nellis Air Force Base in Southern Nevada, his new home, and participated in the Thunderbirds' "I can do it" series. As part of his participation, Garoppolo had the unique experience of being a guest on an F-16 fighter jet as it took to the skies above Las Vegas. That memorable activation was spurred by the Garoppolo family's history in the United States military, as his grandfather served in the United States Marine Corps. Garoppolo CONNECTS with the service and veteran community, focusing on spending times with families of fallen soldiers. In past seasons, Garoppolo has hosted families at games during the month of November as a part of the NFL's Salute to Service initiative. Garoppolo EMPOWERS service members and their families, representing Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) for the NFL's "My Cause, My Cleats" campaign. He donates his cleats each season to TAPS to be auctioned off at their annual fundraiser, helping those in need.
