Nelson Lowes Sr.
Nelson Lowes Sr. is a lifelong Steelers fan and Vietnam Veteran who served for 20+ years. He coached football from the age of 20 to 65, at all levels from Pop-Warner to high school, and even overseas while he was stationed in Germany. He has served as commander at the Ligonier VFW and was the VFW PA state surgeon. He advocated for the health and wellbeing of veterans and traveled to the US Capitol to help pass legislation in favor of veterans' rights, all on a volunteer basis. As state surgeon, he would make visits to VQA Hospitals across the state of Pennsylvania to ensure veterans' rights protocol was being maintained at a high standard. As busy as his VFW schedule was, he would never miss a Steelers game and raised four kids to be upstanding citizens and massive Steelers fans.
