I became a Kansas City Chiefs fan over 20 years ago when I grew up next to a U.S. military family from Kansas City in Germany. Their father was stationed in Baumholder, and I quickly became close friends with their kids. Every Sunday, we would watch football together—high school, college, and, of course, the NFL. While most people around me were passionate about soccer, I found my love for football, and the Chiefs became my team. When the family moved back to the U.S., it became harder to follow the Chiefs, but thanks to YouTube and later TV broadcasts in Germany, I was able to reconnect with them and continue my passion.
For me, being a Chiefs fan is more than just supporting a team—it's a way of life. The Chiefs Kingdom feels like a family, even for those of us outside the U.S. We celebrate the wins together, endure the losses, and share in the incredible community spirit. That passion led me to become a board member of German Arrowheads e.V., the largest Chiefs fan club in Germany. I work to grow the Chiefs community here by organizing fan events, meetups, and watch parties, bringing fans together and helping expand the Chiefs Kingdom internationally.
One of my most unforgettable experiences as a fan was attending my first game at Arrowhead Stadium with my wife—the season opener against the Ravens. The atmosphere, the energy, and the kindness of the fans in Kansas City left a lasting impression on me. People were genuinely excited when they found out we had traveled all the way from Germany, and that moment only deepened my love for the team.
When I found out I had been selected as the International Fan of the Year, I was completely shocked and overwhelmed. This recognition is such a huge honor, and I never expected my passion for the Chiefs to be acknowledged in this way. The thought of representing the international Chiefs Kingdom and even being in the Inner Circle at the NFL Draft is something I never could have imagined—it's truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Looking ahead, I hope to see the Chiefs fanbase continue to grow in Germany and across Europe. More official events for international fans, a regular Chiefs game in Germany, and stronger connections between U.S. and international fans would help expand the Chiefs Kingdom even further. No matter where we are in the world, we are all part of one big Chiefs family, and I am incredibly proud to be a part of it.
