Demonstrates Excellence on the Field
As a four-year starter, Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Moore is recognized as one of the most dynamic players in the NFL. Over the last two seasons (2019-2020), he ranks fifth in receiving yards (2,368) among NFL wide receivers, posting back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving campaigns.
Demonstrates Dedication and Commitment to Community Efforts this Year
Although the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to restrict engagement with the community, DJ was able to give back in his focus areas in both Charlotte and Philadelphia this past year. In May of 2021, 255 students at Hawthorne Academy, a high-needs school in Charlotte, were provided food security and new backpacks. In early July, DJ headed back to Philly for a free youth football camp impacting 100 underserved children in the local community. The football camp provided over $30,000 of in-kind support, gifts, food, and equipment. This event was then replicated later in July in Charlotte for another 100 at-risk youth. After each football camp, participants in the program received a new bicycle. DJ will end the year with a Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution and Holiday Shopping Spree for single moms.
Demonstrates Dedication and Commitment to Community Efforts in Years Past
Since joining the NFL, DJ has used his platform to serve others through an annual roster of programs that target high-need youth and families. His annual efforts include providing school supplies, Thanksgiving meals, and holiday toy distributions. As a new father, DJ has broadened his focus areas as his family priorities have provided him with a fresh perspective. DJ continues to embrace the responsibility and unique opportunity that being an NFL player offers to make a difference and use his platform to affect positive change.
Demonstrates Consistency in Positive Character and Models a Lifestyle of Giving Back
DJ is a dedicated father to his daughter, Arielle Melody Moore, and a reserved gentleman influenced by his special relationship with his mom Cookie Moore. "Having Arie is one of the best things ever to happen. She just brings a whole different light to different situations," DJ said. "I want to make sure that her life experiences are viewed through a different lens than what I saw growing up. I want to help other kids facing similar challenges that I faced and succeed by seeing their potential and the opportunities that are in front of them."
DJ has been an impactful player both on and off the field since joining the team in 2018. Through the work of his foundation, Moore2Life, Inc., DJ has consistently supported at-risk youth and families in need through resource distribution, educational advancement, and mentorship-based programming. Growing up with a single mom in the heart of Philadelphia, DJ witnessed gunshots, sirens, and violence regularly. Through the eyes of his young daughter, Arie, DJ intends to change that viewpoint and show the importance of giving back now that he has "made it out." As a locker room leader, DJ serves as the team's NFLPA representative.
