Excellence on the Field:

Jared Goff comes to Detroit after spending the first five seasons of his career (2016-20) with the Rams, who selected him with the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of California. During his time in Los Angeles, he earned two Pro Bowl berths, guided the Rams to two NFC West division titles and three playoff appearances and led the team to Super Bowl LIII. Goff has started all 69 career games in which he's appeared and has completed 1,536-of-2,421 passes (63.4%) for 18,171 yards, 107 touchdowns and 55 interceptions for a 91.5 passer rating. He has also rushed for 10 touchdowns in his career.

Dedication & Commitment to Community Efforts This Year:

Through Ford, Jared's Foundation, JG16, was connected to The Children's Center through which he has participated in a variety of initiatives that are focused on empowering and uplifting the children of Detroit. For the 2021 football season and most of the 2022 offseason, Jared read to The Children's Center's students every month via zoom. After spending so much time with the students via Reading Tuesdays, Jared was inspired to do more. Jared is joining Lisa and Bill Ford as a committee member of the 2022 Auto Glow event, and he is personally sponsoring $25,000 worth of therapy sessions for 330 children who have experienced trauma, as well as sending children and their parents to the Ford x TCC Preview event and dozens more to the Auto Glow event. Jared spent the offseason designing his JG16 x FATE collection products with the FATE students, and these dropped on https://www.jg16.store/ at the end of August. For the 2022/2023 season, every dollar that comes in through JG16 apparel sales will be matched by Jared, dollar-for-dollar, and will go to the FATE program's college fund, providing college scholarships for these students From the 2021/2022 NFL Season, every dollar made from the JG16 apparel line was donated to the Detroit Lions Foundation to be distributed throughout the Detroit community for mutually agreed upon youth initiatives. Additionally, Jared matched every purchase with a donation of his own. (i.e., a $29 shirt is $58 back into the community). With these funds, Jared sponsored the rebuild of a brand-new STEAM Lab at the Detroit Lions Academy, which was revealed on September 20, 2022.

Dedication & Commitment to Community Efforts in Years Past:

In September of 2020, Jared announced that he would be using his brand JG16 to partner with Inglewood Unified School District. For the entire 2020/2021 football season, all the proceeds from JG16 were matched by Jared and used for these initiatives in Inglewood Unified School District. The first round of JG16 fall proceeds went to fund the build of the Warren Lane Library. Just as promised, Jared built the JG16 Reading Zone at Warren Lane Elementary, using the proceeds for this came directly from the sales and donations from JG16, which were matched by Jared. Even though Jared was no longer a Ram, he stayed committed to the children of Inglewood, which is why during 2021 and 2022 on the 16th of every month, a different school in Inglewood will have a "Good Day" themed event for their students who have the highest attendance, and who have been excelling in the classroom. These students will be rewarded with a fun event where they will be gifted JG16 apparel, get to play sports, and be acknowledged for their hard work. This STEAM Lab serves as a room for the students to create, experiment, and learn about science and do other fun educational activities. Keeping his promise to Inglewood, this project was fulfilled and completed well into the 2022 football season, where Jared is a Detroit Lion.

Positive Character & a Lifestyle of Giving Back:

Jared Goff sets the standard as it relates to the lifestyle of giving back as he simultaneously is serving both the Inglewood and Detroit communities. He personally delivers his message of "Follow Your Dreams" to the youth of each community he serves. Jared's actions speak louder than words as he opens doors of opportunity for young students to demonstrate their talents, giving them real-world experiences and providing - above all - hope and encouragement that they can and will succeed. The Detroit Lions are proud to select Jared Goff as their 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.
