EXCELLENCE ON THE FIELD

At major venues around the country can be heard a chant that has now become standard wherever the Detroit Lions go: "Ja-Red Goff." In fact, they don't even need to be major venues: high school cheer competitions or grocery stores in Michigan heard the star quarterback's name as a rally cry echo throughout their corridors. Goff's personal accomplishments include the following: Three-Time Pro Bowl selection (2017-2018, 2022); Six-Time NFC Offensive Player of the Week; Two-Time NFC Offensive Player of the Month (October 2024, September 2018); Most attempts (18) and passing yards (292) in a game without an incompletion in NFL history (Sept. 30, 2024); Highest completion percentage (82.8%) and passer rating (140.1) in any six-game span in NFL history; First player in NFL history to post a 72.0% completion percentage and a 105.0 passer rating in six-straight games; First player in NFL history to complete at least 80.0% of his passes in three-straight games in a season (15 attempt min.); Lowest single-season INT rate (1.2%) and TD/INT ratio (4.14) in Lions single-season history (both set in 2022); Most completions in a game in Lions history (38 on Sept. 12, 2021) & tied for most TD passes in a game (5 on Dec. 16, 2023).

POSITIVE CHARACTER & A LIFESTYLE OF GIVING BACK

Goff revamped his brand, JG16, to be a philanthropic vehicle for impact. JG16 partnered with Inglewood Unified School District in 2020, and through apparel sales and various other initiatives, Goff funded a library and STEAM lab learning center at a school in Los Angeles. Goff also donated 1,000 book packs and backpacks to the students at Inglewood Unified School District. Following his trade to Detroit, Goff stayed committed to his partnerships in LA, completing the building of the STEAM lab learning center at Inglewood Unified School District in and also backing an initiative to inspire learning at schools in Inglewood, having "Good Day" events where students were rewarded with Goff's apparel, games, as well as arts and crafts to incentivize hard work in the classroom. Upon Goff's arrival to the Lions, he finished his community projects in Los Angeles while beginning to give back in Detroit. Right away, Goff partnered with The Empowerment Plan, a nonprofit organization that works locally and makes coats that go out to people experiencing homelessness throughout the country. Goff then sponsored the shipping of the coats for that winter. Goff partnered with the local food bank Forgotten Harvest to provide thousands of pounds of food and meals to the Detroit community, personally passing out the bags of food at Ford Field. Goff also first partnered with the Detroit Lions Foundation and Detroit Lions Academy (DLA) – a local Detroit Public Schools Community District school – to fund the building of a STEAM lab and learning center at DLA, with the goal to inspire literacy and hard work in the classroom. Goff eventually found his partnership with the FATE program through Give Merit starting in 2022 and has since donated to dozens of scholarships for students in Detroit.

DEDICATION & COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY EFFORTS

THIS YEAR

Goff understands the responsibility and honor that comes with being nominated for this award. When selected as the 2022 Detroit Lions Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee, Goff used that platform alongside the $40,000 awarded to each nominee to donate to the FATE scholarship fund. Goff also participated in the 2022 Alltroo sweepstakes offered for each nominee and from fan donations, raised another $45,000 for the FATE scholarship fund. He added an additional $25,000 to the FATE scholarship fund following the 2022 season when he participated in the RX3 charitable flag football game. Goff used the media attention from being the Detroit Lions' 2022 nominee to further amplify the local community and hopes to lead by example to inspire his teammates and others in the NFL to give back to their communities. In 2024, Jared Goff is honored to have an opportunity once again to champion positive impact in the city of Detroit and beyond.

IN YEARS PAST

All of the 2021 JG16 sales and Goff's donations were given to the Detroit Lions Foundation, and the funds were used to build the STEAM Lab learning center at the Detroit Lions Academy. In addition to his success on the gridiron, Goff has spent his time off the field supporting local education, largely by partnering his official brand, JG16, with the Detroit's Give Merit FATE program for every NFL season since 2022. The FATE program – a cohort-based program for Detroit youth that emphasizes the value of education and its role in achieving long-term career and personal goals through real- life business projects – connects Goff with select students to help collaborate on the designs of the JG16 clothing line and subsequently receive college scholarships from the sales of the apparel, with Goff matching 100% of every sale. In addition to being able to provide scholarships for all five student designers in 2023, Goff donated the surplus of sales to the overall FATE scholarship fund, providing scholarships to numerous other Detroit students in the program. Another focus of Goff's philanthropic efforts is national food insecurity. Goff has partnered for a second season with Lineage Foundation for Good, an organization that works to fight food insecurity and reduce food waste, and has pledged to donate 1,000 meals for every one of his road game touchdowns to each host city's local food banks and pantries. In 2023, between Goff's touchdowns and additional ad hoc donations, this partnership provided 150,000 meals across the United States, and Goff aims to surpass last year's donations during the 2024 season. Goff and Lineage also plan to provide meals around the Thanksgiving holidays in the city of Detroit.
