11,000 counterfeit NFL jerseys seized at airports

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Customs officials have confiscated nearly 11,000 counterfeit NFL jerseys at Los Angeles International and Ontario International airports since the football season began five months ago.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection put the retail value of the jerseys at nearly $850,000.

Customs spokesman Todd Owen says in a news release that agency specialists in detecting trademark violators have been intercepting the bogus jerseys since Sept. 8.

He says the counterfeit jerseys are of poor quality.
