2014 fantasy football profiles and projections (RB 65-80)

Bye Week.............4

Turbin is a talented runner who might have more fantasy appeal if it weren't for the fact that Marshawn Lynch is ahead of him on the depth chart. That situation has limited Turbin to a combined 157 carries in his first two NFL seasons, and he's not going to see a major increase in rushing attempts in 2014. With Lynch still the centerpiece of the offensive attack, Turbin will continue to settle for a backup role on the field and handcuff status in fantasy land. At best, he's worth just a late-rounder.

Bye Week.............7

Rainey is a member of a crowded backfield situation. The Buccaneers have a featured back in Doug Martin, leaving Rainey to battle Mike James for depth-chart position in camp. When Martin's season ended early last year, Rainey stepped in and performed well collecting 137 carries and five touchdowns. This season, Rainey could again become a decent handcuff in re-drafts. Otherwise, his immediate value would be limited.

Bye Week.............4

Taylor was all but invisible in the stat sheets as a rookie, rushing for just 115 yards while playing behind Rashard Mendenhall and Andre Ellington. The Stanford product does figure to see more work in 2014, though, as Mendenhall's retirement opens up a chance for him to move up the depth chart. A potential complement for Ellington, he could earn short-yardage and even goal-line work in what could turn into a partial committee. Even in a best-case scenario, Taylor's value is limited to the late rounds.

Bye Week.............4

Mason, a third-round pick in the NFL draft, enters a crowded backfield situation in St. Louis. The Rams have a featured back in Zac Stacy, leaving Mason to battle Benny Cunningham and Daryl Richardson for depth-chart position in training camp. He's a talented ball carrier, rushing for over 1,800 yards in his final collegiate season. Mason does need to improve as a pass catcher, though, and his pass protection is flawed. Should he earn the No. 2 spot behind Stacy, Mason could become a handcuff in re-drafts. Otherwise, his immediate value would be limited.

Bye Week.............9

McCluster, who was a wide receiver during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, will move to running back under new Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt. That's a positive for his fantasy value, as McCluster figures to see plenty of targets out of the backfield in a Danny Woodhead role in the offense. While he is unlikely to see more than 125 carries during the course of the regular season, the Ole Miss product should see receiving opportunities as long as he can make plays. Clearly, McCluster has major PPR potential.

Bye Week.............10

A fourth round pick out of Wisconsin, White fumbled just twice in 754 carreer touches in college. White has become a coach favorite so far in camp and there has even been word oh him threatening the fumble-prone Stevan Ridely for carries. If Ridley stumbles during the season, the Pats could give White a shot to show what he's got. Don't target him until late rounds.

Bye Week.............9

Draughn has been waived by both of his former teams, the Chiefs and Ravens in the past two seasons, but currently stands as the No. 2 back on Chicago's depth chart. The only season that he played 16 games was in 2012 in Kansas City where he carried the ball 59 times for 233 yards and two touchdowns. It's hard to imagine Druaghn holds the backup spot behind Matt Forte for any extended period of time, as the team develops rookie running back Ka'Deem Carey.

Bye Week.............5

A former sleeper in fantasy land, Thomas has failed to meet expectations at the NFL level. In fact, he figures to be no more than a committee back in what is the final year of his rookie contract. The addition of Knowshon Moreno locks him out of a starting job, and a bad training camp could cause him to lose his roster spot to Mike Gillislee. Regardless, the former Kansas State standout is not in a good position to find success in the stat sheets. His time being on the fantasy radar now appears to be over.

Bye Week.............11

A fifth-year runner out of Connecticut, Todman is coming off his best statistical season with better than 300 scrimmage yards and three total touchdowns. He did most of his damage in Week 15, when he started and produced 153 scrimmage yards against the Buffalo Bills. While he isn't a threat to Toby Gerhart atop the Jaguars depth chart, Todman does figure to etch out a third-down role and be used as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Overall, he won't be worth a late-round selection in deeper leagues.

Bye Week.............5

One of the most talented and versatile fullbacks in the NFL, Reece has recorded a combined 84 receptions and averaged around 4.7 yards per carry in his last two seasons. While he's performed well when asked to step into a featured role, he'll remain somewhat buried on the Raiders depth chart behind Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray. Reece is still worth a late-round look in some PPR formats and could be a waiver-wire add if injuries occur, but he's not going to see much attention in most drafts this season.

Auction...............$2

Bye Week.............9

Carey, a versatile running back out of Arizona, was drafted with the No. 117 overall selection in May. A workhorse at the collegiate level, he rushed for 42 touchdowns and a 5.85 yards-per-carry average in his last two seasons. He figures to come right in and serve as the No. 2 runner in Chicago behind Matt Forte. While he'll be worth a late-round look in re-drafts as a handcuff for owners who draft Forte, most of Carey's value is going to be in dynasty formats as the potential top back once Forte's tenure is over.

Auction...............$1

Bye Week.............7

James showed some promise as a rookie in the absence of Doug Martin last season, rushing for 295 yards with a solid 4.9-yards-per-carry average. Unfortunately, his status as the team's starter was short lived after suffering a broken left ankle in Week 10. With Martin back from an injured shoulder and Charles Sims also in the mix, James will be hard pressed to see enough opportunities to make a real impact either on the field or in fantasy land. Should he land the second spot on the depth chart, James would be a handcuff.

Auction...............$1

Bye Week.............10

Asiata was unknown in fantasy land until late last season, when he saw an increase in carries with Adrian Peterson on the sidelines. He rushed for three touchdowns in Week 15 to help countless fantasy owners in the postseason, while also rushing for 115 yards in the finale against the Detroit Lions. While he has no significant value with Peterson back at 100 percent, Asiata could end up being a handcuff for A.D. in the late rounds of deep leagues. He'll see competition from rookie Jerick McKinnon.

Auction...............$1

Bye Week.............12

Archer was the Steelers' third pick in the 2014 draft. He possesses rare burst, acceleration and top-end speed. He has great agility and will likely contribute mainly to the special teams squad in his rookie season but if Pittsburgh can find a way to incorporate him into the offense, he'll be dangerous for opposing defenses.

Auction...............$1

Bye Week.............12

A third round pick out of Georgia Southern, McKinnon began his college career as a return man and cornerback. He's a tough runner with good versatility, but as long as Adrian Peterson is healthy, don't expect McKinnon to have much of a fantasy impact.

Bye Week.............10

A former first-rounder out of Connecticut, Brown had been a bust for all intents and purposes until last season. While he started just five games, Brown looked a lot better than Trent Richardson en route to posting 27 receptions, over 700 scrimmage yards and a career-best eight total touchdowns. Now in San Diego, however, Brown's stock is going to fall with both Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead ahead of him on the depth chart. In fact, the former Connecticut standout won't even be drafted in many leagues.
