The Davey O'Brien Award, which goes to the nation's top quarterback, released its watch list Thursday, and only one Ohio State quarterback -- Cardale Jones -- made the list.
The Buckeyes, of course, are set to hold a three-man competition at quarterback between Jones, J.T. Barrett and Braxton Miller, so the O'Brien Award presenters are making a projection of sorts.
It was a much different approach than the one taken by the Maxwell Award (nation's top player), which included all three Ohio State QBs on the watch list it released last week.
The O'Brien Award selected 24 players to this year's watch list. Other top contenders for the honor include 2014 finalists Trevone Boykin (TCU) and Dak Prescott (Mississippi State) and 2014 semifinalist Connor Cook (Michigan State).
Oregon's Marcus Mariota, the second overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, won the award last year.
