49ers' Hunter starts at RB, but Gore suits up vs. Eagles

Rookie running back Kendall Hunter started for the San Francisco 49ers, but Frank Gore is active in Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

While the 49ers handed off to Hunter on the first play from scrimmage, Gore ripped off a 40-yard run up the middle on San Francisco's fourth play.

Gore, who was limited during last week's victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, began the week wearing a walking boot. While 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh had it in mind this week that Gore would play, the running back wasn't so sure and was ultimately listed as questionable.

The 49ers have struggled in the running game (30th in the NFL), and the Eagles have struggled stopping it (also ranked 30th), so Gore could have a breakout week if he can remain on the field.

Neither wide receiver Braylon Edwards (right knee) nor fullback Moran Norris (left leg) made the trip east for the 49ers. Ted Ginn Jr. and rookie Bruce Miller are starting Sunday. Safety Donte Whitner (hip) was active.

Eagles defensive end Juqua Parker was inactive with a high ankle sprain. He also missed last week's game.
