A.J. Green (hamstring) plans to play vs. Texans

A.J. Green expects to be back just in time to torture the tightrope-walking Texans as they attempt to stumble into the playoffs.

Green confirmed the news himself on Thursday via the Cincinnati Enquirer. Saturday night's prime-time showdown airs exclusively on NFL Network at 8:25 p.m. ET.

The Bengals wideout was on a tear this season but hasn't appeared in a game since Nov. 20 against the Buffalo Bills. A nagging hamstring issue kept him out for more than a month. Even with the delay, Green is just a few catches shy of yet another 1,000-yard year.

The Bengals are now firmly in the spoiler role, which is enticing for the right kind of person. Green has always been one of the league's fiercest competitors, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him test a very good Houston secondary. Green's last full game resulted in seven catches for 68 yards and a touchdown against the Giants back on Nov. 14.

While we often try to separate the church of fantasy and football news, Green's impact might be most appreciated by the lucky owners who now should have a gigantic weapon at their disposal on championship weekend. Sometimes there are other ways to provide hope when the actual playoffs are out of reach.
