Curry announced via Twitter on Friday that he's joined the team. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported, via a source who's seen the deal, that it's a one-year contract.
According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Giants general manager Jerry Reese said Friday that the team signed Curry "to see if he can reinvent himself a little." Reese also said the Giants "like giving guys second opportunities."
Curry recently tried out with the squad and was seen Friday watching the team's rookie minicamp.
Curry played in only two games with the Oakland Raiders last year because of knee problems. He started 39 games for the Seattle Seahawks and Raiders since joining the NFL. Curry might have an uphill battle just to make the team, but the Giants have done a nice job finding roles for linebackers without explosive skill sets in recent years. (Chase Blackburn, Keith Rivers and Mark Herzlich come to mind.)
