Aaron Rodgers among QB options for Giants with Matthew Stafford returning to Rams

With the first quarterback domino falling in the offseason, teams are beginning to adjust accordingly.

Aaron Rodgers is now one of several veteran options the New York Giants are interested in, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday.

Rodgers is still on the New York Jets roster, but the organization announced on Feb. 13 that it was moving on from the four-time NFL MVP after two seasons. The move is expected to be designated as a post-June 1 release.

However, that doesn't mean Rodgers is necessarily leaving Gotham.

The Giants, who currently house Tommy DeVito as the only QB on their roster, had interest in obtaining Matthew Stafford, but news broke earlier Friday that Stafford was staying with the Los Angeles Rams.

So, the Giants are now pivoting with their sights apparently set on Rodgers.

The 41-year-old left the Green Bay Packers after 18 sterling seasons in a much-ballyhooed trade to the Jets ahead of the 2023 campaign.

However, the Rodgers-Jets union was stymied just four snaps into his first season when he suffered a torn Achilles. Rodgers' second -- and expected last -- season with Gang Green saw him look far removed from a QB who was a Pro Bowler just three years prior. He threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during a 5-12 season that saw head coach Robert Saleh fired and general manager Joe Douglas dismissed midseason.

Could Rodgers, who coined the phrase "JetLife" Stadium when referring to the Jets and Giants' homefield of MetLife Stadium, be changing his Gang Green jersey for a shade of Big Blue?

We shall see as the offseason revs up.
