Adam Gase expected to land with Jaguars or Ravens

With the Broncoshammering out a deal to sign Gary Kubiak as their next head coach, Adam Gase is on his way out of Denver.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the team's offensive coordinator is expected to land a play-calling job with either Jacksonville or Baltimore. After Jaguars coach Gus Bradleymet with Gase on Sunday, the Ravenswill interview him Monday night, Rapoport reported, per a source informed of Gase's schedule.

The Baltimore job -- which opened up after Kubiak decided to join John Elway in Denver -- looms as the better option for immediate success. Gase and Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco would make for an interesting pairing after Kubiak coaxed the passer to one of his finest seasons. Gase brings a different scheme than Kubiak's play-action, boot-heavy attack, but the obvious question is whether his success with the Broncos was more about his play-calling or Peyton Manning.

Jacksonville would put Gase to the test. The presence of young quarterback Blake Bortles is enticing, but the offense is badly in need of a talent injection. It's fair to wonder if Bradley and friends will continue to be treated with such patience if Jacksonville produces another losing season.

Two weeks ago Gase stood out as one of the league's brightest head-coaching candidates. Today he's looking for work and destined to attach himself to a passer not named Manning. It's another example of how quickly things change in the NFL.
