Now they've admitted it.
Snyder was released Monday, just one year into a five-year, $17 million contract that included a $5 million signing bonus. Consider Snyder a nice addendum to Gregg Rosenthal's post on veterans hurt by the draft.
Snyder's fate was sealed when the Cardinals used two picks during the 2013 NFL Draft to address the offensive line, including No. 7 overall choice Jonathan Cooper. Snyder will be classified as a "June 1" cut -- a designation that allows the Cardinals to spread the salary-cap hit over two seasons ($1 million in '13, $3 million in '14).
The Snyder signing was curious from the start. He came to the Cardinals after a subpar 2011 season with the San Francisco 49ers, who were eager to upgrade at the position themselves. Snyder struggled both in the passing and rushing game for the Cardinals. We're sure Jim Harbaugh wasn't surprised.
Snyder should be able to catch on as a reserve elsewhere, but his days as a starter might be numbered.
