Adrian Peterson earns GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson surpassed the 2,000 yard mark and came within nine yards of breaking the single-season rushing record as the Vikings clinched a playoff berth in a win over the Green Bay Packers. His effort earned him the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week for games played on Dec. 30, the NFL announced. The GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week is the best moment or play of the week that represents determination and perseverance.

Pro Bowl RB Adrian Peterson came within nine yards of breaking Hall of Fame RB Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing yardage record, but in the process propelled the Minnesota Vikings to their first playoff berth in three years. Peterson rushed for 199 yards as the Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers, 37-34, on rookie kicker Blair Walsh's winning field goal attempt to earn a wild-card playoff rematch at Lambeau Field.

Vikings ride Peterson to playoff berth was selected from among three moments by voters on NFL.com/gmc. The other two moments were Indianapolis Colts prevail in coach's return and Denver Broncos earn AFC's top seed.

After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners. Fans can vote for the winner and enter for a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLVII on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January.

Andrew Luck threw two touchdown passes in the win, including a 70-yard scoring strike to T.Y. Hilton to clinch the victory.

Broncos overcome 2-3 start to earn AFC's top seed: The Denver Broncos claimed the AFC's No. 1 playoff seed with a 38-3 win over the visiting Kansas City Chiefs. QB Peyton Manning threw three touchdowns as the Broncos earned an 11th consecutive triumph. The Broncos managed to rally for home-field advantage despite opening the season 2-3.
