The Minnesota Vikings were a missed chip-shot field goal from winning a playoff game over NFC powerhouse Seattle Seahawks.
Adrian Peterson believes in 2016 the Vikes can not only win that playoff game, but much, much more.
"We are going to have a good chance to win it this year -- win everything," the running back told The MMQB's Peter King. "Sit back and watch. Sit back and watch. You can be like, 'I thought you guys were at least a couple of years away.' Nope. You sit back and watch, this year."
The biggest question marks for Mike Zimmer's squad sit on offense -- the defense is flying under the radar as one of the best in the NFL. Minnesota spent its offseason attempting to plug holes on its sieve of an offensive line. Much of the Vikings' success will hinge on how the additions of Alex Boone and Andre Smith solidify the front.
Teddy Bridgewater remains a work in progress. The quarterback didn't make as big a leap in Year 2 as we expected. The offensive line troubles were a part of that problem -- Bridgewater was under pressure as much as any quarterback last season. Adding Laquon Treadwell should also provide Bridgewater a much-needed big-bodied target.
While Teddy's improvement is vital to making noise deep in January, the Vikes' offense should continue to lean on Peterson to carry the load. The 2015 rushing leader's focus is first on Super Bowls.
"I don't spend too much time thinking about (winning another rushing title)," Peterson said. "But it's a seed planted in my brain, and it's sticking there. Everything in me is championship, championship and then breaking records. It's a part of me. I am pushing myself to the max to win a Super Bowl, and then to break Emmitt (Smith's) record and Eric Dickerson's (single-season rushing) record. It is my everyday life, what I think of every day. Mostly it's that Super Bowl. Then the whole world will remember you."
