INDIANAPOLIS -- Now that Andrew Luck has moved into the top spot on our Weekly Rookie QB Ratings, does he feel he has arrived?
Luck has led the Indianapolis Colts to half their win total from all of 2011. He posted a 107.5 quarterback rating with two touchdowns, no interceptions and drove the offense for a game-winning field goal with 12 seconds left last week against the Minnesota Vikings. He was the first rookie quarterback to lead a game-winning drive in the final minute of the fourth quarter since Archie Manning in 1971.
No biggie, this whole NFL thing...
"There were no revelations," Luck said Wednesday. "I think it's a work in progress. Hopefully, maybe one day I'll get there. Until then, keep working."
One thing Luck has down is avoiding sacks. He's stepped up in the pocket when needed and pirouetted out with pressure in his face. The slide can be cleaned up, but Luck has proved to have capable feet even if Robert Griffin III and Cam Newton get all the highlights. And all this with an offensive line that issues before a string of injuries hit.
"There's players (on this team) that are much more capable of running than I am, so let's get the ball in those guys' hands," Luck said. "I realize one hit in the NFL is equivalent to about 10 in college. Try to minimize those.
