Andy Reid just can't help himself. He loves those big uglies.
The Philadelphia Eaglestraded away the No. 14 and No. 172 picks in the NFL draft to the Seattle Seahawks to move up three places and take Fletcher Cox with the No. 12 selection Thursday night.
"We thought he would be a top six or seven pick," Reid told The Associated Press. "When he started to fall, we got excited about that. We had a price on how much we were willing to spend. Things were crazy. It worked out."
Despite his fall, Cox was happy with his landing spot.
"I was real excited," Cox told The AP. "It's a defensive scheme I would like to play in, and it'll be a pleasure to play under (defensive line coach Jim) Washburn."
We like everything we've heard about Cox, but we liked a lot of other Eagles first-round picks in the trenches when they first happened. Brandon Graham, Brodrick Bunkley, Mike Patterson and some of their offensive line counterparts like Danny Watkins have created mixed results at best.
Those mixed results haven't stopped Andy Reid from continuing to draft the big guys.
