With Jordan Cameron nursing a shoulder injury, the Cleveland Browns are feeling around for help at tight end.
The team on Tuesday worked out veteran Kellen Davis, according to Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports.
Browns coach Mike Pettine told reporters Monday that he had no update on the status of Cameron, who aggravated his shoulder on a 47-yard grab during Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Pro Bowl pass-catcher originally suffered a sprained AC joint during an August team scrimmage.
Davis is a known quantity to general manager Ray Farmer after the former Bears starter spent part of the 2013 offseason with the Browns. After Cleveland dumped him, the 6-foot-7 tight end latched on with the Seahawks, starting four games for Seattle en route to the Super Bowl.
Davis is a marginal receiver who looms as a major downgrade from what Cameron brings to the attack. Already stripped of the suspendedJosh Gordon, losing Cameron for an extended period of time would reduce Cleveland's passing game to dust.
