When Houston Texans running back Arian Foster stated earlier this week that his back surgery "wasn't as major as it sounded," the question remained what exactly Foster meant when he was "medically cleared" for his participation in offseason workouts.
Foster attempted to clarify that question, saying during a premiere for the film "Draft Day" on Thursday that he will be ready for the Texans' organized team activities, which begin May 27.
"I'm fine," Foster said, per the Houston Chronicle. "I got cleared ... so I'm feeling good."
Foster missed eight games due to injury in 2013, compiling 542 yards rushing and one touchdown. Carrying the weight of 956 rushing attempts in three seasons from 2010 to 2012 has critics wondering if the back issue is a sign that the 27-year-old is beginning to decline.
For his part, Foster doesn't believe he has to validate anyone else's expectations.
"It's not like I've got to go prove -- I'm not trying to prove anything," Foster said. "I always play this game to the best of my ability and that's what I'm going to continue to do."
The Texans added another injury-prone running back in Andre Brownthis week. With big question marks at quarterback, the offensive load could once again fall on Foster and his surgically repaired back.
