Eugene Monroe's run with the Ravens is over.
Baltimore released the veteran left tackle after trade talks crumbled with the New York Giants, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The team later announced the release Wednesday.
Coach John Harbaugh announced Tuesday that Monroe was being held out of this week's mandatory minicamp while general manager Ozzie Newsome worked to trade the bookend, saying: "It's in Ozzie's hands, and we'll see where it goes."
While the Ravens are determined to start first-round pick Ronnie Stanleyat left tackle, Monroe, 29, can still play. He started just six games last year due to a shoulder injury, but the veteran has started 90 games since the Jaguars made him the eighth overall pick in 2009 NFL Draft.
The move also helps Baltimore's cap situation, creating $6.5 million in space. The Ravens, though, will take on $2.2 million in dead money in 2016 and $4.4 million in 2017.
