Barber should be OK to play for Cowboys on Sunday, owner says

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says running back Marion Barber should play Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

Barber missed Monday night's 21-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers after injuring a thigh during the previous week's loss to the New York Giants. Barber was close to ready Monday, but the Cowboys' medical staff decided to hold him out.

Jones said Barber showed more progress than expected Wednesday. Barber was in full gear for Thursday's practice and fully participated.

Barber's return gained urgency when backup Felix Jones sprained a left knee ligament against the Panthers. Jerry Jones said the second-year back from Arkansas would miss the game against the Broncos.

Third-stringer Tashard Choice filled in well as the Cowboys' starter late last season when Barber and Jones were out.
