Barkevious Mingo, Cleveland Browns strike contract

Rookie Barkevious Mingo signed a four-year contract with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced early Sunday. The deal includes a fifth-year option.

Mingo, a pass rusher out of LSU, was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Plain Dealer reported, via a league source, that Mingo's contract is worth more than $16 million and contains offset language. The Browns and Mingo's camp previously had been haggling over the presence of offset language in the deal.

A dynamic athlete, Mingo will be expected to contribute right out of the gate to the aggressive defense run by coordinator Ray Horton. Mingo, who this offseason received a heaping of praise from former SEC offensive linemen, said last month he believes the Browns' defense can be the best in the NFL.

Third-round pick Leon McFadden and seventh-round pick Armonty Bryant signed four-year deals Friday, so the Browns now have all of their draft picks under contract.
