Bart Scott's tumultuous relationship with the New York media took another strange turn Friday.
According to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post, Scott and reporter Dan Leberfeld had to be separated in the Jets' locker room. A New York Jets PR staffer had to step between Scott and Leberfeld after the reporter took a cell-phone picture of the linebacker. Leberfield also tried to take a picture of Scott on Wednesday.
After the puffed chests, Scott, who hasn't talked to the media since Week 1, apparently threatened to "smack the (expetive) out of Leberfeld, who responded: "I'll sue you!"
Scott responded by saying, "I don't care" and calling Leberfeld another choice term we can't repeat here. Leberfield told The Associated Press he never felt truly threatened.
"I don't think a player would be that stupid," he said. "A player would be suspended or have legal issues, so I don't think a player would ever do that."
The Jets later released a statement regarding the incident, which also will be reviewed by the NFL.
"We work hard to foster an appropriate working environment," the Jets' statement read. "We regret this incident occurred and are reviewing the matter."
This would be an eye-opening story in a lot of cities with a lot of teams. With the Jets, it's called Friday.
